Erewhon Hut sits high in the Southern Alps, at 1,750m, on the southern end of the Arrowsmith Ranges. Built to endure extreme alpine conditions—1.5m snow loads and 300km/h winds—this rugged yet cozy retreat is a haven for ski tourers, mountain bikers and hikers.
Prefabricated in our Christchurch workshop, the hut’s panels were transported to Erewhon Station and airlifted by helicopter to the remote site, where it was assembled on location.
Designed for comfort and resilience, the hut features two separate sleeping areas, each accommodating six, separated by a central foyer. Both sides have their own fireplace and gas cooker, providing warmth and convenience-making it the perfect base for backcountry adventures.
